Spotted: The New BMW 3 G20

3The first of the new 3 Series have hit the dealerships very recently.

JI can’t really hate on the overall design of the new G20 but one thing that irks me is the Peugeot style crease running from the headlights down to the lower grill.

What do you think of the new generation 3 Series?

Those dark parts of the taillights also remind me of the Peugeot 508. Not that that is a bad thing

I think the 4er is going to look stunning. But I’m kind of mad at the G20 because of BMW Mexico.

Even though we build the G20, dealers haven't announced it yet. So people who don't know any better keep buying the old F30 at retail price even if the new G20s are being made as we speak.

Nope...But I feel the worst for the actual employees of the plant in San Luis Potosi. Imagine going to a dealership and asking about the new three series (knowing that you built them) and the salesperson showing you an F30 320i being sold for 30,000 dollars.

I’m pretty sure F30s are still being sold well here too. Mainly to fleet customers though.

Also, the general car buying population is stupid.

I couldn’t care less about the exterior styling changes, seems they’ve improved the interior.

I am very interested in test driving one sometime to see how much better it is than the F30, every review seems to say it’s a marked improvement especially the steering.

I mean, the F30 is not a bad car by any means, it's just that I guess that when people want a car, they want the newest one possible or a significant discount on the older model.... But I agree, people are stupid.

It’s not a ugly car, but there are a lot of styling clues from other cars. The front looks like a love child between the 5 Series F90 and a Peugeot 308 and the rear looks like a Lexus. I’m curious if it will be any decent to drive tho, I haven’t driven BMW’s yet apart from my daily E46.

Remember the Peugeot 505 (1979) and BMW E28 (1981) ? Certainly not the same thing, but there are clear similarities. So it wouldn't be the first time BMW is at least somewhat inspired by Peugeot.

It looks better in real life to me . Apparently it was quite well recieved by journalists in first test drives, better than the F30. Also, prepare to be disappointed by most new BMWs compared to the E46, which is still my favorite BMW.

I mean, it depends I guess. I don’t think they’d actually allow you to import a car from Mexico if it’s new and also on sale in the US, and you’re not Mexican. I think rootwyrn used to import cars from Canada and he could help you... But you’d need to get US spec lights, reflectors and speedometer.It could also be harder because we don't actually use car titles here... we use recipts (in the case of used cars I think the previous owner signs a binding sale contract or something like that)

In my case though, I could import any car into the US for around a year, bring it to Mexico for one day (or hide it in a shed), and then bring it back to the US. But that’s because I’m not a US citizen.

All of the research I’ve done on this leads me to believe that in most states cops don’t actually check if the car has been too long in the US, they just check that you’re not American.

i was being a bit sarcastic. the cheapest 3 is 42k usd, though i didn’t know they stopped selling the 320 in the US.

I mean, porsche is only selling the Carrera S and 4S 992s, as opposed to the billion models they’re gonna have in eight months time.

given the hatred dealers had for the last 320 labels “the jalopnik special” they want to steer the customer as high as possible.

I think dealers here are pretty fond of the 320i...I guess plenty of people would rather get the small engine with more equipment than a bargan basement 330i instead. Accessories have bigger margins than engines I think.
